HORRORCLIX POWERS AND ABILITIES: ABOUT

This project was started after Wizkids decided there would not be any new releases for Horrorclix. On the It's Wicked Fun! forums, people got around to talking about using Heroclix in Horrorclix, once again. And specifically, regular poster Uberman had taken on the task of converting the new Heroclix Batman: Alpha set for use in Horrorclix. And while I liked his idea, it didn't jibe with what I was envisioning. But he made an excellent point: simplicity is the key. And Heroclix worked with a PAC, so why not one for a Horrorclix conversion!

WHY ONLY THESE FIGS?
Multiples of five. Not crazy speed. Careful of big range (hi Hawkeye.) Vaguely thematic. Not overpowering. No activation clicks, since there's no pushing.

PROBLEMATIC: TEAM ABILITIES
Cabal powers aren't the same way. I suppose it doesn't really matter until I stat up someone with one, but I've listed out what I'd probably use for each, as I go over the characters that have them.

But what to do with Top Cow? It's more of a company property than a team. Not much unification. B.P.R.D., on the other hand, actually exists in Horrorclix already. (And while it's still weird to have it on Rasputin, I think we can overlook that.)

PROBLEMATIC: PESKY POWERS
Due to rules-differences, some powers don't translate over well. But the more we stick to pre-existing Horrorclix powers, the easier this whole thing will be to accept.

Support was easy. Healing simply doesn't carry over into the setting, so it was replaced with the inocuous Protector, as it fit the theme of helping those in need.

Super Strength had to change due to the nature of items being so different between the two games. I considered a special power to be able to destroy items, but that seems like more trouble than it's worth. I decided to stick to its essential spirit of encouraging up-close violence.

But Incapacitate? That can work at range or up close in Heroclix, which doesn't jibe well with Horrorclix. In the end, I figured to lean on the side of close combat for the PAC.

For Willpower, I went with Reflexes. Displayed the determination and/or training of the character.

Impervious and Invulnerability, we had to get fancy with. It's not elegant, but it also likely won't matter much in the long run.

But: Barrier? Outwit? Perplex? Regeneration?

If you disagree on any of the powers, please let me know, I am always open to discussion and new opinions. When in doubt, I erred on the side of caution; the Heroclix dials have enough things working in their favor, and I'd rather they ran underpowered instead of overpowered, when things come down to brass tacks.

PROBLEMATIC: TRAITS
Yes, there's a lot of Guardians and Vigilantes. And they all rescue victims instead of slaying them. That's what happens when you ring a lot of hero-types into the picture.

I also made up the trait "Primal" to cover The Darkness and Angelus. "Legend" didn't seem to quite fit.

I was tempted to add "Soldier," but I figured that was a slippery slope.

For characters I was less familiar with, I had to guesstimate, after doing some basic research on the Wikipedia. If you see something that needs fixing, let me know.

EXPANDING: WHAT NEXT?
If this catches on, I suppose the next place I would go is figuring out appropriate characters who have point values that don't end in multiples of five, that are worth rounding up. It would be a shame to exclude Blade and Ghost Rider.

Another easy step would be figuring out Heroclix dials worth stealing for conversions of other characters, where the character itse;f doesn't really work. I'm already eyeing a certain fig for a Lone Ranger conversion...

Other conversions could include the same fig on the dial, but give it a different background. August General in Iron and Tigra definitely look the part, but a different name and some fluff text would help the medicine go down. And while HIVE and the Hellfire Club wouldn't make a lot of sense in game, they can easily stand in as high-tech mercenary forces for the Umbrella Corporation or something, sent in to clearn an abandoned base or somesuch.

Oh, and the Silver Samurai listed is from a parallel Earth where he's a hero. So there.
